- great concept!

insightful presenters we have had in a while.
"On
behalf of the Arlington Parents for Education
organization, I want to thank you for spending
the day with our staff and students! It was a
FABULOUS day! Thank you for sharing your inspirational
message with all of us! We enjoyed it all - From
BOOGERS to BULLYING. There is no doubt in my mind
that you have inspired a new generation of future
authors. Keep spreading your high impact messages
through your creative and fun style - You have
a GIFT!”

"Julia
Cook was ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!!! The students
loved her! Julia's books are so applicable in
so many situations. I read them to my Kindergarten
class and the kids are totally engaged! They can
"see themselves" in the book situations
that she has created. One teacher even commented
that it really helped her students the next day
when they were doing a writing assessment. Julia
is so pleasant to work with…the dogs are
a huge hit too! Our parents were very impressed
at her evening presentation. They were TOTALLY
attentive, just like the students throughout the
day! I would definitely recommend any school or
group to book Julia Cook. She certainly addresses
topics that apply to children, parents, and teachers.
Thank you to the MidAmerica Speakers Bureau for
making the arrangements…I really appreciated
it!””

"You
can't even imagine how many times I have looked
at your books and thought about your genius. When
you came and talked to our kids in assemblies
- you made me excited to read and even to write.
Thank you for that. I am a fifth grade teacher
at Washington Elementary. I feel SO lucky to have
met you."

“I just wanted to let you know that the author
visit certainly wasn't what I was expecting. What
great messages Julia Cook had for parents as well
as kids! I expected mostly talking about her books
and herself. She had a great way to do that as
she really brought those books alive! And the
safety things she went over with the kids - fantastic!
Those are the things I tell my kids all the time,
so to hear it from a "stranger" was
awesome. Now they realize that I'm not crazy or
going overboard when itcomes to safety (or at
least I hope)! Overall, a very well spent hour!”

"I
have been a school social worker for many years.
I have spent lots of money but rarely have I found
books and resources that are as relevant as yours.
Reading the stories is pure fun and I know the
kids are having a great time listening. More than
that, the kids get them! When I ask what did you
learn, what was the message, what will you use,
they can give me answers. Thanks so much for this
resource.”

JULIA
COOK MS
Children's Book Author - Teaching
Skills to Last a Lifetime
|
|
BIO:
|
|
With
over a million books in print, Julia Cook is a former
school counselor and teacher who never dreamed she
could evolve into an award-winning children's author,
parenting expert, and inspirational speaker. She now
travels the country encouraging others to follow in
her footsteps. "There are so many ideas out there
that need to be shared," says Julia who takes
top research and creatively translates it into "kid
language" that is both entertaining and engaging.
Julia has the innate ability to enter the world view
of a child through storybooks, giving both children
and adults the "what to say" and "how
to say it."
“Everyone
on the planet either is a child, or used to be one,
so if you can write a really good children’s book,
it will apply to ALL who read it!”
Several
years ago, Julia was searching for an effective story
to teach children about the differences between tattling
and telling. When she couldn't find the right resource,
she decided to write her own book – A Bad Case
of Tattle Tongue. Fast forward seven years, and she
has 55 published books from the National Center for
Youth Issues, Boys Town Press and the CDC. Cook's
ultimate goal: make a positive difference in the lives
of people young and old, by teaching lifelong problem-solving
skills. This modern day Dr. Seuss (actual comparisons)
has been endorsed by EAGALA, the National Center for
Missing and Exploited Children, Childhelp, Darkness
to Light, USA Volleyball, the Alaska Department of
Education, the Centers for Disease Control, and the
list goes on. Cook’s research-based books have
been referenced in such publications as Parent’s
Magazine, The New Yorker, The Chicago Tribune, Military
Spouse, Yahoo.com, dr.laura.com and babyzone.com.
She has also been featured on CNN’s HLN News,
and many large metropolitan networks.
Julia
frequently delivers entertaining and engaging keynote
addresses at national education, counseling, business
enhancement, and character conferences throughout
the country. She has presented in over 800 schools
nation-wide. Julia has been featured in major markets
such as Chicago, Orlando, St. Louis and Atlanta, and
is now speaking at conferences with authors like Mem
Fox and Eric Carle. This former teacher and school
counselor chose to “think outside the box”
and is now a rising literary star; teaching thousands
of people and helping them learn skills that will
last them a lifetime!

Keynote
#1: “REBOUNDARIES
and RESILIENCE ...Enhancing skills that foster boundary
recognition, determination and GRIT!”
As
educators and parents, our ultimate goal is to make
a positive difference to children and help them reach
their highest potential and become the best that they
can be in all they do. This goal is getting harder and
harder to reach.
- How
do we accomplish the great task of teaching our kids
the BIG LIST of everything they need to know and succeed
in life when they believe that all of their needs
are being met through screen time?
- How
do we teach our kids online safety? How do we allow
technology to add to our children’s life as
opposed to taking from it?
-
How do we create an environment where kids genuinely
"want it" more than we want it for them?
This
research based keynote takes a look at the things that
world class parents and educators are doing to accomplish
the "ultimate goal." By creating a craving
for knowledge, setting boundaries, teaching GRIT, encouraging
patience, and developing E.Q., our children can thrive
with strength and confidence in their ever changing
world!
Keynote
#2: “Unlearning Helplessness – Motivating
the Underachiever,”
In Julia’s presentation, “Unlearning Helplessness
– Motivating the Underachiever,” she shares
how underachieving occurs when people have a significant
gap between their abilities, and what they achieve.
In this interactive session, she will discuss the four
types of underachievers, talk about the importance of
executive function skills, explore the characteristics
and causes of underachieving, and present effective
solutions that can reverse this problem. “In order
to open the doors of “untapped potential,”
you need to have the right keys.”
Keynote
#3: “The ________’s Survival Kit”
In Julia’s presentation, “The ___________’s
Survival Kit,” she’ll use common objects
to give people tips on how to navigate each and every
day successfully. A simple item - such as a toothpick
- helps remind you to “pick” out the good
qualities in everyone... including yourself. What about
a “tissue?” A tissue helps remind you to
dry someone’s tears - maybe your own - and be
aware of the tears of others. A rubber band?...It reminds
you to become more flexible. You’ll laugh and
learn as Julia shares her stories and many insightful
tips. A great, inspiring and informational keynote that
can be tailored to fit the needs any group!
